MICHAEL MANCUSO
"I knew it was a fantastic idea the moment I heard about it, but it wasn't until I used the Cole Clarifier on my way home from Oshkosh that I truly appreciated how great it was to read those tiny numbers without even leaning toward my altimeter!"

Michael Mancuso is an aerobatic pilot that has been performing solo at major air shows and special events for the past three years in the Klein Tools Extra 300L.

Michael started flying gliders when he was 11 years old, and he soloed in an airplane on his grandfather’s farm when he was only 13 years old. It wasn’t long before that daring 13 year old began teaching himself aerobatics when he was up in the plane by himself.

By the time Michael was 18 years old, he had his commercial pilots license and was heading off to a successful aerobatic career. In 1998, Michael retired from aerobatic competition to join the Northern Lights Aerobatic Team. He performed with the world-famous, award-winning team until their retirement in 2000.

In 2001, Michael re-ignited his solo career by partnering with Klein Tools, of Chicago Illinois to bring audiences a dazzling solo performance in the Klein Tools Extra 300L. In 2003, Michael was named the official air show of the Indy Racing League, and performed at the pre-race festivities for select races beginning in the 2003 season, and continuing into the 2006 season.

Michael has received impressive media coverage, with appearances on Discovery Channel, CBS Sunday Morning, Discovery Wings, Speedvision, the History Channel, ABC Wide World of Sports, as well as many local news stations and major newspapers.

Press Release October 2006  Cole Clarifier from OneWink, LLC Promises to Improve General Aviation Safety

Bill Thacker is a well known ambassador for pilots and general aviation. He is a 20,000 + hour ATP who captains a major carrier.  He holds numerous type ratings as well as an A & P license.  He is an active member of the EAA and currently flies a beautifully restored Cessna 195.  Thacker field (Bill’s roost) is host to many local aviation activities in central Illinois.  He writes:

You recently installed a Cole Clarifier on the altimeter of my beloved Cessna 195. WOW! It was like breaking out of the clag at 200' with the runway right where it’s supposed to be. I don't know why somebody didn't think of it sooner! I typically fly airliners for a major carrier and there we set and verify three altimeters for every take-off and approach. As nicely equipped as my 195 is I don't have three-fold redundancy or the backup of a co-pilot. Like most GA pilots I fly my plane IFR and single pilot. I need to accurately set my one and only altimeter. The Cole Clarifier reduces my workload too, as it takes absolutely no time or effort to accurately set in the current barometer. It became even more clear when I flew at night. The Clarifier focuses and actually increases the light in the Kollsman window. At fifty I need all the help I can get!

Thanks, OneWink for a clever invention and a quality product! At 200 AGL I need to be confident in my altimeter setting.

I wanted to pass along how impressed I am with the Cole Clarifier that is installed on my altimeter. At first glance it is a noticeable improvement but the first time I was flying in hard IMC weather during the day and at night I was very pleased to have my Clarifier. I said in the back of my mind its not coming out of the airplane. I buy, sell and broker aircraft my plan is to introduce all my clients to the Cole Clarifier. I am certain they will appreciate it as much as I do.

Best regards, Chris Cochran

When my pilot friends told me about the Cole Clarifier, my first reaction is what a great idea.  My second thought is why had I not thought of this simple workable solution.  I had the Cole Clarifier installed on my North American AT-6 on the way to the annual Sun n Fun fly-in at Lakeland, FL. The Cole Clarifier was immediately put to the test as I filed IFR on the next two legs of the trip. Cockpit organization, and proper scan is real requirement of flying the AT-6 in actual IFR conditions.  The cockpit of the AT-6 is somewhat dark and not at all a standard “T” when it comes to the placement of the instruments.  Flying with the Cole Clarifier installed was like you put an instrument light on the altimeter, even in the day light.  Setting and checking for the correct altimeter setting was effortless as the altimeter’s Kollsman window to seem jump right out at you.

I use my AT-6 for both local and cross-country traveling. We are all aware of the importance of having the correct altimeter setting in the Kollsman window.  The confidence of being able to verify the altimeter setting with a quick glance when working around Class B or C airspace, during IFR approaches, or enroute certainly makes the installation of the Cole Clarifier worthwhile.

Watching the personal at Bloomington install the Cole Clarifier on the altimeter I was impress by the quality on the materials and the method of attachment.  I do plan to add the Cole Clarifier to my Beech Bonanza’s altimeter.

I saw the Cole Clarifier at their booth at Oshkosh and I was impressed. About a month later, I flew my 1948 Ercoupe to the OneWink, LLC facility at Bloomington, IL to have it installed on my altimeter. On the flight back to my home in Arkansas, I was even more impressed. Most of my flying is low, slow and local, but when I fly cross-country or in controlled airspace, the Clarifier makes it much easier to set my altimeter accurately. There are not many FAA approved products for aircraft in the price range of the Cole Clarifier and even fewer of those that actually enhance safety.

The folks at OneWink, LLC have a great product in the Clarifier and they are wonderful people to deal with."
